Open source software tools on HPE Ezmeral — innovation through collaboration
HPE Learn On-Demand offers three new courses covering open source software tools to support the developer’s learning journey.
Have you been wondering about how HPE Ezmeral Software works with open source tools and projects? Dispel that curiosity by enrolling in three, free on-demand courses that explain the HPE Ezmeral software platform’s open source collaboration and functionality, and showcase a few of its technical solutions. These courses will not only expand your knowledge and understanding of open source software (OSS), but also how HPE Ezmeral Software collaborates with the open source community on a regular basis and on a variety of projects.
Today, we see open source software — the tools and projects — used in mission-critical systems, such as web servers, databases, and cloud infrastructure. It is often considered to be more secure, reliable, and cost effective than proprietary software. Constant attention to the quality and robustness of project codebases, done by a wide variety of stakeholders and users over time, has led to better quality software, faster bug fixes, and greater innovation.
HPE embraces this vibrant and collaborative community of developers who are committed to creating high-quality, accessible software. In particular, HPE Ezmeral includes many open source software tools in the EEPs (Ezmeral Ecosystem Packs), bundled into the product. The HPE Learn On-Demand team has developed three exciting new courses to help you learn more about how we integrate OSS into our products. Have a look:
Open source tools and HPE Ezmeral Software
Featured open source projects in HPE Ezmeral for data scienceTake this intro course to get grounded on HPE Ezmeral Software and the open source community.
Several open source tools are covered in detail, organized by their primary function: administration and management, data engineering, analytics and data science, and data security tools.
You’ll get a survey of Apache Software Foundation projects, such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Iceberg, as well as projects from the Linux Foundation, like Kubernetes, MLflow, SPIFFE and SPIRE. Other popular OS tools are covered, including Great Expectations, Istio, Elasticsearch, and Feast, among others.
Apache NiFi and the ETL pipeline
Confused about what ETL is and does? This course will show you the details of Extract, Transform, and Load processes, the common challenges users face when implementing an ETL pipeline, and tips on how to overcome them. Covered are ETL pipeline optimization, differences between ETL and ELT, and some tools that automate ETL creation.
Apache Software Foundation
The course takes a close look at the Apache Software Foundation’s NiFi project: the concepts, features, and benefits. Last, you’ll learn how Apache NiFi fits into the HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric, listing the combined capabilities and benefits of using the Data Fabric when deploying NiFi and building an ETL pipeline.
Data security is always top priority. Learn how the Cloud Native Compute Foundation’s open source projects SPIFFE and SPIRE work with HPE Ezmeral Data Fabric Software to solve for these challenges.
Start with a short review of the overall data security landscape, then learn how SPIFFE and SPIRE protect against many emerging threat data security issues, like problems with network access and workload identity. Covered next are SPIFFE architecture the fundamentals of how SPIRE handles multi-factor attestation.
Cloud Native Foundation SPIFFE – SPIRE projects
HPE Ezmeral Software and open source tools is a developer-centric collaboration that really does improve the way we live and work.
