Arrival of HPE StoreEver MSL 1/8 0-drive Tape Autoloader carries good news for data protection
Itโs landed! HPE strengthens our archive portfolio with the arrival of new, compact HPE StoreEver MSL 1/8 0-drive Tape Autoloader supporting up to 1 LTO drive and 8 slots in a 1U form factor.
Now being sold only in a 0-drive configuration, the HPE StoreEver MSL 1/8 Tape Autoloader offers you greater flexibility to choose the right LTO technology for your business requirements today, while allowing for upgrades further down the road.
To give you an example: Yes, the HPE StoreEver MSL LTO-5 Ultrium 3000 SAS Drive Upgrade Kit may meet your needs to archive up to 24TB of data today. However, the new MSL 1/8 0-drive Autoloader is now capable of upgrading to or reusing LTO-6, LTO-7, or LTO-8 tape drives. This in turn increases the maximum capacity point to a possible 240TB as your archive requirements grow with your business. We think this is pretty neat, allowing you to to quickly and easily upgrade to higher performance. You get more capacity plus a choice of SAS or Fibre Channel interfacesโand you can take advantage of HPE LTO backwards media compatibility.
The key takeaway: both your hardware and media investments are truly protected
The HPE StoreEver MSL 1/8 0-drive Tape Autoloader provides a cost-effective and easy-to-manage tape solution that combines incredible storage density and features into a compact 1U form factor. Another great feature: web-based remote management, which means can access, configure, monitor, and troubleshoot the autoloader to reduce dependencies on local IT staff while allowing multiple sites to be supported centrally. As a standard, you can protect your confidential information with native encryption, ensuring that if a tape is lost or stolen your data is protected from unauthorized access.
Software to safeguard your investment
Whatโs more, you can benefit from a whole host of HPE Tape Library Management Software to keep your autoloader performing at its very best. You can proactively receive detailed information about your MSL Tape Automation with TapeAssure Advanced, where information is collected about the library, drives, and media then monitored for utilization, operational performance as well as life and health status.
Additionally, you can prevent problems before they occur by proactively receiving notifications if any library, drive or tape media parameters fall below HPE recommended standards. HPE StoreOpen software with LTFS and HPE Command View for Tape Libraries are also available as a free download.
Clearly, we are happy to share that the MSL 1/8 0-drive Autoloader arrives free of the weight extra โhidden costsโ sometimes associated with other data protection and archive solutions. Why not take a look and learn more about the new MSL 1/8 Tape Autoloader today? And see for yourself how your small-to-midsized business can benefit from a tape solution of this kind.
Additional updates
At the same time as the news of the new MSL arrival, HPE provided further tape updates across the portfolio for the following products:
- HPE T950V tape libraries supporting both full-height and half-height LTO-7 and LTO-8 drives
- Improved robotic, drive loading, and recall performance in HPE TFinity ExaScale tape libraries
