Healthcare system news: HPE GreenLake for Block Storage MP certified with MEDITECH
Get the technical details behind the certification of HPE GreenLake for Block built on HPE Alletra Storage MP with MEDITECH.
โ By Nick Jennings, Solutions Engineer, HPE Storage
HPE GreenLake for Block Storage MP is designed to address a medium-to-large healthcare systemโs mission-critical data management requirements while providing truly flexible consumption and management options designed to address growing infrastructure costs. Itโs ideally suited to the extreme latency sensitivity and availability requirements of large-scale electronic health record (EHR) management systems.
Leading EHR software vendors such as MEDITECH have developed sophisticated systems for healthcare providers that deliver reliable patient data management and support their complex workflows. The data growth and solution sophistication place ever-greater demands on a healthcare provider's IT infrastructure and the storage platform is a critical component. HPE GreenLake for Block Storage built on HPE Alletra Storage MP is now the optimal storage platform for small-to-medium healthcare providers requiring rapid, reliable access to the patient records in their business-critical MEDITECH system. For healthcare providers running larger patient records systems, MEDITECH lists the HPE GreenLake for Block Storage MP system as providing mission-critical storage.
Validation environment details
The system used for certification was an entry-point switchless HPE GreenLake for Block Storage MP with two nodes, dual CPUs with 16 cores, and 24 2 TB NVMe drives, running HPE GreenLake for Block Storage OS Release 4. Any configuration of HPE GreenLake for Block Storage MP with more nodes, drives, and/or switches would provide similar or better performance and are also considered certified.
This HPE GreenLake for Block Storage MP certification project was conducted by MEDITECH and Bridgehead Software in cooperation with HPE in the HPE Partner Lab in Houston, Texas.
Test description and results
The HPE GreenLake for Block Storage built on HPE Alletra Storage MP certification results were impressive. As shown below, the average latency for reads and writes were less than MEDITECH required standards of 1 ms for reads and 1 ms for writes during ISB and 2 ms for reads and writes during IDR โ all while maintaining a MEDITECH workload of 45,000 IOPS.
