New HPE Solutions with Qumulo: all-NVMe performance & scale help to tame file data growth
Managing huge amounts of file data is complex and challenging. HPE solutions with Qumulo deliver scale, performance, flexibility, and affordability. Now available on HPE Alletra 4110 data storage servers.
โBy Steve Flynn, Go-To-Market Manager, Cloud and Data Infrastructure, HPE
Ask any storage analyst about data growth, and youโll get roughly the same response: Data will double every three to four years. It will be measured in hundreds of zettabytes. And it will consist mainly โ about 80% โ of unstructured (primarily file) data.
New cloud-native applications generate so much data that older file solutions canโt keep pace. Neither can storage admins. They need extreme efficiency and flexibility to store and manage unstructured file data without breaking the bank.
HPE solutions with Qumulo, built for today and tomorrow
HPE solutions with Qumulo are designed with todayโs file data storage challenges in mind. The solutions are built on a modern architecture that offers scale and performance wherever the data resides โ at the edge, in the data center, or natively in the cloud on AWS, Google Cloud Platform, and Microsoft Azure. The solution infrastructure is based on industry-proven HPE servers that range from hybrid NVMe to all-NVMe flash systems, giving you the right mix of price, performance, and capacity to meet business needs affordably.
This offering includes Qumulo File Data platform software, which makes it incredibly easy to access and share file data. The software supports access through a broad set of file protocols including SMB, NFS, and FTP, as well as an S3 API. Data can be shared across these protocols without losing access permission integrity, which means access controls only need to be set one time. This is a big time and complexity-saver for storage admins. The inclusion of the S3 API means that as enterprises adopt more cloud-native applications, both file and object workflows can use the same data. You can consolidate them into a single storage namespace, resulting in even more storage efficiency.
Taken together, the flexibility to scale anywhere and access and manage data easily is more critical than ever, as more and more data is created at the edge (IoT and remote offices) and in the cloud (cloud native applications).

File storage powered by the HPE Alletra 4110 data storage server
New HPE solutions with Qumulo based on the HPE Alletra 4110 data storage server are now available. The HPE Alletra 4110 data storage server is an all-NVMe system and a perfect fit for demanding file workloads. Youโll get advanced features, great economics, security, and a cloud-operating-experience. You can also count on more data throughput, data processing power, and data capacity in an easy-to-deploy yet ultra-dense 1U form factor. Qumulo clusters built on the HPE Alletra 4110 data storage server โ with nodes of 38TB, 153TB, or 303TB โ are purpose-built to meet your most demanding requirements at an affordable price.
Qumulo File Data Platform keeps pace with new software enhancements
The Qumulo File Data Platform continues to evolve as well with the introduction of new software features that deliver greater resiliency, cost and capacity efficiencies, easier migration, and additional security measures.
Adaptive Data Protection is a new feature that lets you change data protection configurations as you add cluster nodes. This means you reduce the amount of storage needed for parity and data recovery while optimizing for better failure-tolerance. This also lets you gain back valuable usable storage capacity automatically โ without impacting active workloads. Imagine this: better storage utilization, improved failure tolerance, and a lower TCO. Itโs a rare win-win-win.
In addition, new Transparent Platform Refresh capabilities allow you to update older nodes without disrupting end-usersโ workloads, and without time-consuming and expensive migrations. You can change the underlying Qumulo cluster platform โ and more easily stay on up-to-date technology โ without migration concerns.
Lastly, Qumulo has boosted data security by integrating with the Varonis Security Data Platform plus new Qumulo snapshot-locking features to protect data from being accidentally or maliciously deleted. Varonis helps track where data is most exposed to security threats and provides rapid detection and prevention, often stopping threats before they become costly data breaches. Snapshots on Qumulo can now be locked, preventing them from being deleted from the system, enabling faster recovery and near-zero RPO.
As-a-service simplicity and cloud-economics with HE GreenLake
HPE solutions with Qumulo can be purchased and consumed as a service through the HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform. This means that you can invest in a traditional ownership model or with pay-per-use models, depending on your business needs. Providing the HPE solutions with Qumulo through HPE GreenLake reinforces HPEโs strategy of delivering a cloud operational experience that is simplified, automated, and spans edge to cloud.
What it means to you
With the rapid growth of file data, flexibility, and efficiency are more critical than ever as you try to control costs and intelligently manage your file storage infrastructure.
HPE solutions with Qumulo give you the scale (billions of files of any size) and performance (up to 455GBs) that you need, with the agility to run wherever your data resides edge-to-cloud without sacrificing functionality, simplicity, or value. The new solutions based on the HPE Alletra 4110 data storage server, together with innovative software enhancements from Qumulo, add even greater density, performance, security, and efficiency.
While managing the surge of file data growth will not be easy for storage admins, HPE solutions with Qumulo bring a compelling set of new tools for tackling the challenge.
