Take action to accelerate your data-driven transformation
Don’t let storage and data management complexity hold you back. Explore how bringing the cloud operational experience everywhere, unified data management, and AI-driven insights and intelligence can help you transform.
What’s preventing you from becoming truly data-driven?
In today’s world, data has power. It enables companies to transform, innovate, and advance. For IT managers helping businesses transform, this means finding ways to unlock the value and agility of data across the end-to-end lifecycle.
You need to be able to streamline access to your data innovators so they can create value from it. You must also protect your data by safeguarding it against threats and disruptions, and mobilize data by accelerating access and freeing it across clouds. At the same time, complexity may be holding you back from being able to deliver the best experience for the data that powers your business.
Transformation isn’t always easy.
To help customers chart the right course, we recently turned to the analysts at ESG to examine what’s holding customers back, as they share actionable insights businesses can use as they accelerate their transformation. While you can, of course, read the recently published eBook, Why Data Management Complexity Is Inhibiting Innovation; 3 Essential Steps to Accelerate Your Business’s Data-driven Transformation, I wanted to summarize the highlights gleaned from this insightful study that shares findings gathered from 250 IT and business professionals.
Consider what’s holding you back.
Clearly, if you feel like you are playing catch-up in the data-driven transformation game, you’re not alone. In this study, 93% of participants state that storage and data management complexity is impeding digital transformation.
But complexity comes in many forms. In fact, ESG found that – on average – organizations have 23 different data management tools today. That creates the kind of complexity that holds you back and slows you down. To add to the complexity, organizations reported that they spent over 80 hours deploying provisioning and updating their data infrastructure.
As you begin to re-evaluate the infrastructure that supports your data, you will want to think about what you need to be able to do with your data – and the data experience you want to be able to deliver to your stakeholders. Effective data management is about accessing, searching, storing, analyzing, protecting and mobilizing data across the entire lifecycle, with data infrastructure that can be simply deployed, managed, upgraded and optimized. You want to be able to first recognize what’s wrong, then find actionable ways that can help you simplify and streamline data management, ultimately propelling your business forward.
Think about the impact to both business and IT – and don’t wait to take action.
We all know that successful businesses constantly strive for improved productivity, improved quality, faster time to market, and much more. Not surprisingly, the ESG study found that 95% of organizations have increasing utilization of data as a top 10 initiative. But they continue to face the headwinds of data scale, siloed information, unpredictable IT spend, and lack of overall visibility. Interestingly, 59% of those surveyed said storage and data management complexity are trending in the wrong direction for their organizations – making it more important than ever to find ways to course-correct now – so that this negative trend doesn’t continue.
What actions can you take to accelerate your data-driven transformation?
This is where ESG offers up three steps you can use to accelerate your own data-driven transformation.
Step 1: Bring the cloud operational experience everywhere
Businesses need to find ways to achieve the cloud operational experience for their data. Interestingly, according to ESG, 94% of respondents said that their current storage and data management infrastructure impeded their ability to extend the cloud experience on-premises. Additionally, there is a clear demand for as-a-service data storage, as respondents said this would increase by 34% in an ideal world. Fortunately, there are solutions available today that can simplify the on-premises cloud experience, like HPE Alletra with Data Services Cloud Console, that can help you shed the complexity and silos inherent in conventional hybrid cloud environments. Category-defining cloud-native data infrastructure delivers a cloud operating and consumption experience delivered by HPE GreenLake wherever your data lives. This way, you can stop managing infrastructure and start to access and utilize it – simply – as a service, and on demand.
Step 2: Unify data management across the entire lifecycle
The challenges of data management run the full gamut. Silos create management complexity, spending that’s hard to predict, storage deployment, provisioning and updates are challenging at scale, workload placement is challenging – and the lack of a single pain of glass for both data operations and infrastructure management creates challenges.
In fact, when ESG asked survey participants, “What do you believe are the important outcomes of a modern storage and data management solution?” 68% said integrated data management, and 63% said protect data everywhere/ensuring the performance and availability were important. These are clearly areas where HPE can help you achieve your goals – and there is no reason to wait to get started. With Data Services Cloud Console from HPE, silos and complexity are eliminated. Additionally, HPE recently introduced the next generation of data protection services from HPE GreenLake, to help customers protect data and tackle cyberthreats and ransomware.
Step 3: Accelerate IT operations with AI-driven insights and intelligence
According to ESG, 42% of organizations are currently using AI-based tools for operations. While you may have already employed automation wherever possible, there’s a lot to be gained by advancing and streamlining processes with AI-driven insights and intelligence – or what’s also referred to as data-driven intelligence. When your IT team spends too much time putting out the fires that arise, there are not enough cycles to concentrate on the areas that can help you innovate. That’s where AI can help.
To advance and outpace the competition, businesses need to gain end-to-end visibility across the IT stack, all the way up to the application layer. As the industry’s leading AIOps for infrastructure[1], HPE InfoSight has pioneered a decade of innovations to make infrastructure invisible, and shift operations to become more application-centric. Now customers can optimize application workloads, and continue to enjoy a transformed support and operational experience - disruption-free – with the recently unveiled HPE InfoSight App Insights.
Your business is unique, and that is why partners like HPE can help you accelerate your data-driven transformation. We can leverage cloud data services, cloud infrastructure services, and cloud-native infrastructure – all with AI-driven intelligence – and delivered as a service with HPE GreenLake edge-to-cloud platform.
So don’t wait. Start exploring today, and discover how you can take a new approach to data and infrastructure management to achieve a better data experience.
The time is right to further explore how you can unleash the power of your data.
