What's the future of intelligent storage and flash storage? Two podcasts
What does the future of intelligent storage and flash storage look like? In this post, I share a couple of podcasts that together make for worthy listening and help answer this question.
I'm enjoying a delightful time in Europe, speaking at the Prague VMware Users Group yesterday (and that helped me forget that I wasn't getting any turkey). The pork knee was a fabulous substitute!
I used some downtime I had to turn a couple of our sessions from the storage Tech Day last month into podcasts. I thought these would be good content leading into HPE DIscover in Madrid, whether you are coming to the event or not.
A technologist's view of intelligent storage
As I was listening to this session from Omer Assad, VP and GM of our HPE Nimble Storage business, I realized I missed a lot of what he said when I was in the room for this. (Probably because I was busy making sure things were running smoothly.) You'll see more about intelligent storage next week (maybe a new Chalk Talk?) but I really liked this because it's presenting a technologist's view on intelligent storage. This is definitely worth the time to listen to.
Listen to the podcast now or click here to download it. If you'd rather watch this session, you can see it on YouTube.
NVMe and Storage Class Memory impact on storage
Phill Gilbert is on the 3PAR product management team and looks after software but is also looking at the future of the 3PAR platform. I've heard from several customers that they've heard from channel partners or competitors that there is no future for 3PAR. That is an outright lie and FUD. In this podcast, Phill talks about how NVMe and SCM will impact the near-term future and shares his thoughts about the longer term future of storage.
Listen to the podcast here or click here to download it. Here's also the YouTube version of this.
Today's really my only day to see Prague during the daylight, so I'm off ot explore it. For those of you coming to Madrid for Discover, be sure to check out my blog post that has the eAgenda, I highly recommend it. And if you aren't coming, I have a blog post for you as well. It has the video livestream that you can watch starting on Tuesday.
