Re: Generate logs from Nimble storage

Hi,

Logs/performance stats from array are not generally human readable need tools that are only accessible to support team. Having said that, infosight does show all main reports around capacity and performance stats.

Please do let know if you are looking for any specific logs.

Re: Generate logs from Nimble storage

Thanks @buzzsubash ,

If our vendor asks us to generate logs, how to perform log  generation from Nimble.

Or what is the procedure to generate logs from Nimble arrays?

Is there any way that i can check for disk latency randomly showing on different disks and its associated storage pools performance logs. Also i would like to see before firmware upgrade and after firmware upgrade status on the nimble

Re: Generate logs from Nimble storage

Hi,

Understood. In the Array UI—Administration > Alerts and Monitoring > Download Logs—that option serves a different purpose altogether. Let me explain in detail:

At all customer sites, we—the support team—collect logs and stats once a day for proactive monitoring. Heartbeats from the arrays are sent every five minutes, reporting hardware status for controllers, PSUs, disks, services, etc. If an array is in a dark site, our backend servers cannot communicate with it, so the log files accumulate and appear in the “Download Logs” section of the UI. You can download these logs and send them to the support team for troubleshooting.

In your case, there is no option to generate logs manually from Nimble—at least not in a human-readable format.

To view performance stats, use the Monitoring tab in the Array UI. The Performance section shows pool-level stats over various time frames. You can also view individual volume stats by selecting the volume.

InfoSight is a masterpiece of engineering from Nimble/HPE, offering predictive analytics and AI-based recommendations for performance and capacity. I would advise customers to take a look at it. Please note that for dark sites, it won’t work.

Disk latency cannot be checked from the Array UI; you need stats logs from the array processed through our internal tools. If you’d like to see these stats, please create a support ticket—one of our engineers can fetch the stats and charts and share them with you.

Please let me know if this helps!
