vSphere Distributed Switches ISCSI to Virtual switches Standard

I have a dhci environment, which is already in production, and the deploy was done with vDS, so I currently have 2 vDS one for storage and one for the productive vlan, migrate the vDS to standard switches, I have no issue, my question arises to migrate the vDS from ISCSI to standard switches.
The dHCI remembers these names or perform this migration should not affect the dHCI. I hope you can support me with your comments and some reference documentation.

greetings

Re: Query: vSphere Distributed Switches ISCSI to Virtual switches Standard

thank you very much for the documentation, but I can't find a reference on whether changing the type of virtual switches after deployment would have any effect.

This is because it is required to renew the licensing, but in standard version, which no longer covers the vDS.

Re: vSphere Distributed Switches ISCSI to Virtual switches Standard

Hello Victor

Conversion from vDS to vSS in dHCI is a support assisted procedure and you will have to create a case with us to do it over a zoom session.  I will paste high level overview if it helps.

- In PCBE, a new vSS cluster to be created

- Reset one of the ESXi host and re-add ESXi node to the vSS cluster. Move VMs/workload to it

- Similarly, move the other hosts

- Vcenter VM to be moved on the last host. Essentially, set the VM offline and register the VM on new host ( in vSS cluster)

- Put the vDS cluster in retreat mode, to prevent it from creating VCLS VM and alllow last host to be taken for maintenance.

This VMware article talks about the commands to configure vSS and vDS. https://knowledge.broadcom.com/external/article?legacyId=1008127 .
