CAN'T CONNECT PEER-TO-PEER NETWORK
Window 98 on Pavilion 6350 over a Negear switch won't talk to a Windows 2000 Pro PC. From Network Neighborhood and for each PC I can see the PC's workgroup and shares but not the others. Using NetBui.

Re: CAN'T CONNECT PEER-TO-PEER NETWORK
NetBEUI is NOT routeable. so you either need to have the other systems within the same subnet, or use TCP/IP.
To connect Win98 to W2K Pro. shares, you need to setup a User on Win98, and the Same User and passwword locally on the W2K box.

Re: CAN'T CONNECT PEER-TO-PEER NETWORK
Hi,
Make sure you have the same protocols at both PCs.
1. TCP/IP
2. NetBEUI
3.File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft sharing.
4. Client for Microsoft Networks.
5. Now, connect a Cross-Over Cable directly between the two PCs. That means, do not use the switch.
6. Login from Win98 with the same adminsitrator account and the same password of the Win2k.
7. Offcourse, you have some files or folders shared on both PCs.
Can you see the shared resources. If yes, then replace the SWITCH.
Thanks.
