How to monitor mgd_node running MSCS SQL
How do you monitor MSCS (cluster) SQL 6.5 from IT/O. If I monitor one box and the clustered app switches over to the other cluster member, the first box will report errors. So from my mgd_svr what do I need to do to properly monitor an NT cluster running SQL 6.5. Is there an HP prefered way to do this?

Re: How to monitor mgd_node running MSCS SQL
Hi Victor,
I think your question would be best answered in the Openview forum so you might want to post in there as well. We used to be able to move the messages but I don't have that capability anymore.
From the Microsoft / SQL side of things, you would want to monitor the cluster resource name or IP address so when it fails over to the other node, you can continue to monitor. It sounds like you are monitoring the individual machine name or IP instead of the cluster SQL resource name / IP.
Since I'm not familiar with ITO, I can't tell you exactly how you would do this in ITO, but I think if you monitor the SQL resource instead of the machine, you will get what you're looking for.
Regards,
Jamie Hughes
