HP Jornada 568 dust under screen/Usery
I have to share this with this group.
I have a HP Jornada 568 from the famous SG137 batch. Like more or less everybody else who has bought this machine it has collected a ferocious amount of dust under the screen.
The machine is out of warranty but this is an acknowledge and clearly documented flaw in the machine.
Not having any way of getting it cleaned I thought that I'd contact HP to see if they could get it sorted out. I was willing to pay a reasonable amount for what is ultimately a very simple job - old screen out, clean, new screen it.
agin, bear in mind that this arises out of a
clear design flaw in the product.
The cost quoted to me was STG325/ US$525!! This is a fixed fee irrespective of the cost of doing the job.
I have complained to HP and got a big nothing.
I am about to report HP to the trading standard office and probably going to sue for defective goods (I am a lawyer so its not going to cost me anything).
But to get to the point - the moral of the story is don't buy Compaq/HP. They do not deserve the custom.
I'm dumping the Jornada (obviously once the court case is over) and buying from a manufacturer who clearly wants to retain customers.
It would be good to hear from other customers with similar problems from HP.
I wonder will HP allow this post to be published.
