Lexar memory stick reader not working on my 522n HP

I just bought a 522n and a Lexar stick reader which is supposed to work with XP. When I plug it into a front USB, the PC beeps like it acknowledges the software that was just plugged in but I can not view my photos by it. It simply is not working. I contacted Lexar and they had me install a driver off their site which did not work. Any suggestions???
