Mail with POP3

Mail with POP3

We began supporting remote mail users some months ago. Everything was fine until we change remote equipment OS to W2K Prof. We also have made tests with XP. Application stops communicating during the first ten seconds on the link. The link is not lost ( In fact we could continue recovering mail using POP3 commands ). It just happens that Outlook 98 frezzes when recovering mail.

Juan:

Are you using MS Exchange Server 5.5? If yes, have you tried SP4? You can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/exchange/downloads/55/sp4.asp

Re: Mail with POP3

Yes, We have Exchange 5.5. We also have SP4. We have learned that the problem happens with W2K professional and WXP. We have also tried stopping and restarting Network DDE services on the client side and the mail flows for a while.

Juan:

Are you WIN2K clients at SP3? What e-mail client software are you using?

Juan:

Never mind about the e-mail client. I see you're running Outlook 98.

Re: Mail with POP3

If you have Exchange 5.5 the Exchange clients are entitled to use Outlook 2000 as a client.

I believe OL2K is included on the second CD if you order the SP4 for Exchange 5.5

When using Exchange 2000 the clients may upgrade without cost to Outlook XP (OL 2002).

I would recommend an upgrade from OL98, as it is free for Exchange server clients per the above.

Cheers,
Rune
