MS Word hang while opening word document
Hi,
Whenever I open a MS word document, MS Word will just hang. I'm using MS office 2002 SP3. If I use Wordpad to open the same word document, I can open it immediately without any problem. If I use wordpad to open it, save it as RTF file and then use MS Words to open the RTF file and lastly save it as a DOC file, I will not have any problem opening it. So I suspect that this is something to do with the formatting of the original documents but just cannot figure out how is it causing this problem.
Hope someone can help me out.
br
Danny

Re: MS Word hang while opening word document
Hi Dany,
Have you tried repairing Office? or update it futher www.officeupdate.com (you need original CD to install the updates)
Office XP should be able to open office 2003 and earlier versions
If it is not to much trouble, you can also remove it completly and install it again, but you do have to activvate office again.
Have a nice day,
HTH, Ronald

1. Double click on My Computer.
2. Click on the Tools menu in the top menu bar.
3. Click on Folder Options...
4. Click on the View Tab
5. Click on the little button next to "Show hidden files and folders" (in the Advanced Settings box)
6. Click OK.
7. Double click on Local Disk (C:)
8. Double click on the Documents and Settings folder
9. Double click on the folder with your user name
10. Double click on Application Data. (That folder will be dimmed)
11. Double click on the Microsoft folder.
12. Double click on the Templates folder.
13. Right click on the Normal.dot file and delete it
14. Now you need to hide your hidden folders again
15. Click on the Tools menu in the top menu bar.
16. Click on Folder Options...
17. Click on the View tab.
