reformatting a ze5200

i need to format one of my machines (HP Pavilion ze5200). I saw the discs HP gave me ... looked like 'system recovery' and then a 'windows xp' disc. was wondering what the 'system recovery' did.... because i have a nasty virus and can't get rid of it and need to format. should i just use the 'windows xp' disc or the 'system recovery'

Re: reformatting a ze5200

Haven't tried it, but I think the "system recovery" is the disk you use and that will format and install XP (i.e. ask for the xp cd after a while). Should get it back to "factory installed" mode.

(Hope you have a backup of your own files/docs etc...)

Cheers,

What kind of virus? Perhaps we can get rid of it for you and save you the loss of your data?

Save the program, Open HijackThis and SCAN your system then SAVE LOG and post the log as an attachment to a reply by pressing Browse and pointing at the log file.
