Sending Email to public folders

Hi All!

We have a problem when sending email to public folders that has been going on for over two years. The messages are arriving as notes and not email. As a result, they cannot be processed like email, such as replying to people outside of the company, etc. Our internal IT says that this is a bug in Exchange and has not been corrected correct. Frankly, I am hesistant to believe this, even if it is a Microsoft product. I did a search on google, but did not find anything relevant. Does this problem really still exist or is there a solution?

Any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Re: Sending Email to public folders

Check the following:

If the public folder appears as a file folder with a mail envelope next to it, then it may be a setting problem somewhere.

If the public folder appears as a notepad, then the folder was created incorrectly as a Note Folder (Note Items) rather than a Mail and Post folder.

The folder would need to be renamed, and a new folder created with the original name as a "Mail and Post item". Make sure that you look at the properties of the original folder, and assign the same groups the same rights as before.

Re: Sending Email to public folders

Hi Jon!

The folder appears as a folder with an envelope on top of it, so I assume it is configured as an email folder. You suggest as setting problem "somewhere". Got a tip as to where?

Re: Sending Email to public folders

How are messages sent to the public folder?

CDO driven web page, or through direct email?

One place to look, would be how the email account for the public folder location was created. What type of content will it receive (rich text, html, or text)?
