Sound Problems

I get a horrible scratchy / squealing noise begining anywhere from 15 sec to 15 minutes into any program that has sound. I upgraded my HP PAV 8562 with XP. I recently fixed a modem problem using ripnaw2k. Don't know if this interfered with the sound card driver. Any Help?

John:

As I recall, your sound and modem are o the same card and I believe that riptide update changes the drivers for both. Try going to Device Manager and go into the sound Properties, select the driver tab and click on Roll Back Driver.

HTH!

Re: Sound Problems

Actually it states that there is no driver backed up.

Re: Sound Problems

Hello,

Why don't uninstalling the sound driver from the Device manager and then select the scan for hardware changes, which will reinstall the driver. winXp should have the driver.

Thanks.
