Appset or VVset

In the local GUI, an "appset" is referred to as an "application set," but in the HPE GreenLake Portal, an Application Set is called a Volume Set.

In the CLI, the command "showappset" and "showvvset" exist. When you use these commands with the option "-all," you'll see both appsets and application sets.

It seems that there's actually no difference between appsets and VVsets.

My question is why?  Can someone from HPE explain this to me?

Furthermore, the commands "showappset" and "setappset" are not described in the CLI reference guide 10.3,. Only shovvset and setvvset

Also, I can't find a way to manage QoS from the Portal or GUI. Is it possible to reintegrate all functionalities of SSMC into the local GUI?

"AppSet" and "VVSet" are features for provisioning and managing HPE Storage systems.

Appset (Application Set)::: The AppSet feature allows you to group multiple volumes (virtual volumes) that are associated with a specific application or workload.
Volumes can be logically grouped for easier management and provisioning, especially in environments with multiple applications or workloads.
It provides a unified view of storage resources related to a specific application, simplifying tasks like data migration, backup, and replication.

VVset(Virtual Volume Set)::: The VVSet feature is also used to group virtual volumes together, but it is primarily used for data protection.
It allows users to group volumes that require similar data protection policies, such as snapshot schedules and replication settings.
VVSet simplifies data protection tasks by applying consistent policies to multiple volumes within the set, ensuring the same level of protection for all volumes.

Finally, AppSet and VVSet both group volumes, but AppSet focuses more on organizing volumes based on application or workload, whereas VVSet focuses on applying consistent data protection policies across multiple volumes.

Thank you for the explanation. However, what I fail to understand is why the Cloud portal only allows the creation of Volume Sets and not App Sets. Yet, when you examine the CLI, you can see that App Sets have been created. These can be converted to Volume Sets using the CLI, but for functionality, this distinction seems irrelevant. The local GUI also utilizes App Sets instead of Volume Sets. In any case, it is indeed very confusing, and I fail to see the rationale behind it. Could you please clarify this?
