We purchased a few referbished BL460C G8 servers with FlexFabric 554FLB adapters. When we install an OS (Windows, Linux or ESXi) on two of then we get an error that there is no NIC, all the other servers were fine. From what I am able to gather the adapters seem to be configured for FCoE and iSCSI as opposed to NIC. Can someoen advise how we can reconfigured the adapters to NIC only? I've seen posts indicating that it has to be done from within the OS, but we can't install the OS. Any help would be appreciated.
Edited: We at not using VirtualConnect. We have two Cisco 3020 switches in the C7000 chassis.

Re: BL460C G8 No NIC Detected
Hello,
You may restart the server, and press the key 'F5' during POST to launch the NIC's Option ROM and see if its personality can be changed.

Re: BL460C G8 No NIC Detected
Hi, thank you for the reply. The only thing that F5 bring up is the HP Smart Storage Administrator. The only option that shows for for the NIC is to press CTRL-S for the iSCSI Select Utility, but when I press CTRL-S it says to wait while it's being lauched but but it never launches it.

Re: BL460C G8 No NIC Detected
Hello,
If you press F9 and go into the BIOS does it see the NICs in these two servers properly under the PCI devices? I would consider next performing a reset to manufacturing defaults in the BIOS of one of these two servers to see if some BIOS corruption could be playing a role here. I would not normally suspect this type of problem on two different servers, but if these servers are being repurposed from some other function then it may be possible.

Re: BL460C G8 No NIC Detected
Hello,
The NIC is seen in BIOS and I have done a factory reset. I also moved the NIC to a server that had a know good NIC and I got the same result. It seems to be something with the NIC and not the server.

Re: BL460C G8 No NIC Detected
Hello,
Try CTRL+P to enter the Utility and check if that helps.
Cheers...

SolutionI've tried CTRL+P and CTRL-S, in both cases it gives a message that it's entering the NIC Option ROM but after about 90 seconds the server just reboots. CTRL-P and CTRL-S works on the NICs that I have no issue with.
Thanks for everyones help, at this point I've contact the supplier and they will be sending two new NICs.
