BL460C ILO2 Serial Console

Hi,

I enabled all this in bios:
- System Options -> Virtual Serial Port -> COM 2; IRQ 3; IO: 2F8h-2FFh
- BIOS Serial Console & EMS -> BIOS Serial Console Port -> COM 2; IRQ 3; IO: 2F8h-2FFh
- BIOS Serial Console & EMS -> BIOS Serial Console Baud Rate -> 115200
- BIOS Serial Console & EMS -> EMS Console -> COM 2; IRQ 3; IO: 2F8h-2FFh

I also enabled the Administration -> Access -> Terminal Services Passthrough option in the ILO webinterface.

Now, when I ssh to the blade ILO and start a serial console with the command "vsp", this seems to work fine.

Although, the console seems to accept no input until the grub is loaded. So I can't enter the bios, when I press the F9 button, it just seems to ignore it.
When GRUB is loaded, I can select things with the arrows.

Does anyone know why my input seems to be disabled until GRUB loading?

Thanks.

Re: BL460C ILO2 Serial Console

You do press +9 for F9 in the vsp, right?

Maybe it's this new feature with the fancy boot screen that is interfering:
- Advanced Options -> Advanced System ROM Options -> Power-On Logo

Hi,

I didn't know about the esc+... keys to replace the function keys. With esc+9 it works fine :-)

Thanks.

Re: BL460C ILO2 Serial Console

BTW, just before GRUB the following should have appeared in your serial console:
Press "F9" key for ROM-Based Setup Utility
Press "F10" key for System Maintenance Menu
Press "F11" key for Default Boot Override Options
Press "F12" key for Network Boot
For access via BIOS Serial Console
Press "ESC+9" for ROM-Based Setup Utility
Press "ESC+0" for System Maintenance Menu
Press "ESC+!" for Default Boot Override Options
Press "ESC+@" for Network Boot
