Cannot run HP Network Configuration Utility

I have BL480G1 with installed Windows 2008 x64 and PSP 8.15B. If I try to launch HP Network Configuration Utility than I have the error message (see attachment). I cannot find HP NC-Series Broadcom 1Gb Multifunction Driver newer than 4.6.17.0, but need version 4.8.4.0. Can you help me?

Re: Cannot run HP Network Configuration Utility

On this page http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=3288152&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=1842753&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4024#11395 only "HP NC-Series Broadcom 10GbE Multifunction Driver" ver 4.8.16.0, but I have "HP NC-Series Broadcom 1Gb Multifunction Driver" ver 4.6.17.0. Only one gigabit! If I try to install "Broadcom 10GbE" than I have this error: "The software will not be installed on this system because the required hardware is not present in the system or the software/firmware doesn't apply to this system."

But package cp009688.exe contained bxnd60a.sys version 4.8.4.0. May be I can copy all files to C:\Windows\System32\drivers folder?

Re: Cannot run HP Network Configuration Utility

Hi Jon

Right, quite strange because it really seems that your NIC can be just upgrade to 4.6.17.0.
When you see the releases notes of the other driver, the nc373i just appear for 1gb multifonction driver.
You could try to put the bxnxx.sys on driver folder and test, if it's not good you could also upgrade the network configuration utility.

Re: Cannot run HP Network Configuration Utility

oh by the way it is saying the "Miniport" Driver has to be 4.8.4.0 so I dont think it is directly refering to the NIC

Re: Cannot run HP Network Configuration Utility

you have to install 4.6.16 before installing the 4.6.17 (required to use the latest NCU)
Beware to have ILO up (or manuel access to the server) before because you sometimes need a reboot when installing this driver.

Re: Cannot run HP Network Configuration Utility

The new version of HP Network Configuration Utility 9.60 (direct link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows/p409049109/v51612/cp010377.exe)
and HP NC-Series Broadcom 1Gb Multifunction Driver 4.6.112.0 (direct link: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib2/software1/sc-windows/p144992187/v51635/cp010387.exe) solve the problem.

Re: Cannot run HP Network Configuration Utility

I am having a similar problem on a Windows 2003 x86 server. I have tried NCU 9.60 and driver version 4.6.112. I still get the error message about the miniport driver being incompatible.

For grins, I re-installed 4.6.112 and after a reboot, everything worked as expected. So it seems that there is a specific order of operations that must be followed. Mine was:

1) Upgrade NIC driver from 4.1.5 to 4.6.14
2) Upgrade NIC driver from 4.6.14 to 4.6.112
3) Upgrade NCU from 9.50 to 9.60
4) Reinstall NIC driver 4.6.112
