Re: Enabling HT on Blade G6

hi garibaldi,

According to the ROM-Based Setup Utility user guide, this option can be found in:

System Options > Processor Options > Intel Hyperthreading Options

It is enabled by default.

good luck, if you appreciate the answers we appreciate the points!

Re: Enabling HT on Blade G6

The Xeon E5506 doesn't support Hyper-threading. Only the E5520 model (and above) do.

If the processor doesn't support it, RBSU won't show you the enable option.

@WFH-WI
I cant found Intel HyperThread options in the System options..

@daniel,
But from the first boot up process, it says HT is disabled..and from the command "cat /proc/cpuinfo" (I am using VSphere 4U1) I've seen the ht flag

Re: Enabling HT on Blade G6

Hi.

You write X5506 but there is no such processor either you mean X5560 or E5506.

The X5560 has hyperthreading and it should be enabled as default as written above. If there is no option for enabeling the hyperthreading i suggest you upgrade or reflash your bios.

If you mean the E5506 it has no hyperthreading. My guess is to why you see the flags and the hyperthreading disabled during boot is that the CPU has hyperthreading it has only been locked by Intel as a part of the pricing of the processor. I can't imagine intel manufacturing that many diffrent types of processors it has to be some kind of "software/firmware" on the chip that desides what it would be.
