HPE BL460c Gen9 with B140i controller SATA SSDs Degraded (smart error)

The RAID function was disabled and AHCI mode is enabled. The controller model now displays iLO as a Wellsburg AHCI controller. The server health status is all green ,but the physical drives now display "Degraded (Smart error)" .

Does anyone know a resolution for this issue?

Yes, the server is working

The two M.2 SSDs configured as a RAID1 mirror previously, that was cleared and the AHCI mode was enabled.

These are M.2 internal SSDs no LEDs

The OS is ESXi 7 U3 installed on one drive

Re: HPE BL460c Gen9 with B140i controller SATA SSDs Degraded (smart error)

Hello,

I wanted to pass along that we were able to find a solution to the issue. The HPE Custom ESXi 7 U3 image does not contain the drivers for the B140i Smart Array controller. Once you install ESXi 7 U3 the controller swithes to AHCI mode and you see the degraded error. We had to downgrade to ESXi 7 U2 and the error disappeared.

Hi, im in the same situation now. Im asking about this article. It sais that the last supported version for b140i is esxi 6.7.  How did it worked for you on 7.0.2?
