Location of EFI Partition (on OpenVMS)

Can someone clarify for me, the location of the EFI Partition on a BL860c blade (the blade will be running OpenVMS). My understanding is that is seems to be on the system disk!
As such, the implication is that I must have an OS loaded on the blade in order to do MP/EFI firmware upgrades.

???

Dave.

Re: Location of EFI Partition (on OpenVMS)

Hi. No you don't need to have a OS installed to make a MP/EFI upgrade. EFI is Like a BIOS so it's stored in a nvram on the motherboard.
So the Upgrade is done from efi-shell.

The partitions on the system disk is used to store diffrent utilities for EFI. Like Drive explorer and such.

Re: Location of EFI Partition (on OpenVMS)

The EFI (extended firmware interface) is stored in the flash memory of the server.

The EFI partition is on hard disk.

If you don't have disks in your server, you can still upgrade using a pen drive or a (virtual) CD-ROM.

Hope this helps!
