OA system type unknown in SIM and chassis not discovered

About have of my OA show up as system type unknown in SIM. They have the same config and firmware level as those getting dicovered properly. SIM also not discovery the enclosures as well. Noticed the serial numbers for all the ones not discovered properly are all in the same sequence starting with 'USE736'.

Re: OA system type unknown in SIM and chassis not discovered

Can you try one these

1) In SIM, GO to options->Protocol Settings->Global protocol settings-> (if https is already checked) , uncheck and check it back.
APPLY

2) Enable xml data in OA and check it.
Configure the OA SNMP page with HPSIM IP address.
In your browser type the following

http:///xmldata?item=all
if this gives a xml reply(which is pretty leghty)

Re-identify the OA. It worked when we tried here. Can you please verify if this solves your problem?

Are you getting the XML data when you do this?

Re: OA system type unknown in SIM and chassis not discovered

I get a full xml report on all the problem OAs which shows info on the blade models, hbas, wwns, etc. SIM also discovering it as an OA but not properly. Prod description in SIM shows System Type - Unknown but hardware description is 'HP Onboard Administrator'. SIM not associating these with any chassis.

The OAs that SIM properly discovers, it associates with a chassis and they show up as System Type - Management Processor, System Subtype - HP BladeSystem c-Class; Onboard Administrator, Product Model - BladeSystem c7000 Onboard Administrator, Hardware Description - HP Onboard Administrator.

System Subtype, Product Model and UUID fields not displayed in SIM for problem OAs. Product number 412152-B21 matches for good and bad OAs as does the protocols SIM is using to discover them. Only difference I see is the serial number sequence with some different internal coding causing the problem?

Make sure you give different serial number and UUID to these OAs.
Performance is compulsion and not an option if my existence is to be justified.

Re: OA system type unknown in SIM and chassis not discovered

Try Changing the enclosure serial number and rediscover it in HPSIM.

From the CLI:
help set enclosure serial_number

SET ENCLOSURE SERIAL_NUMBER "": Set the enclosure's serial
number. The serial number must be 10 characters in length. Acceptable characters
include alphanumeric, dash and underscores.

Re: OA system type unknown in SIM and chassis not discovered

Narrowed down issue to my SIM instance. Tried adding OAs to two different sim installs and they were discovered properly by both. HP tech support directed me to white paper on saving configurations and suggested reinstalling SIM.

Re: OA system type unknown in SIM and chassis not discovered

Do this:
1) check SNMP enabled on OA
2) Just restart OA.
thats what i did.
i had one same issue that OA was coming as embeded with no enclosure and servers.

hope it will help.

Re: OA system type unknown in SIM and chassis not discovered

SNMP setup ok as I have two other sim instances that discover the OAs properly. Problem is with one specific install of sim.
Tried the reset anyways, no change.
