Problem Connecting VC 1/10Gb-F via CX4

Hello,

we use a Bladesystem so far connected with 10Gb XFP-SR. Now I want to connect an redundant link with the X1 CX4 Port using the recommented HP 15m CX4 Cable.

At the Switch (Procurve 5412ZL) the Link comes up and has no Errors. At the VC Modul the link physicly (LED) comes up too and the LED flashes as expected.

But the Virtual Connect Manager (ver 1.31) does not see this link. It is still unavailible.

What happens? I see this Problems on two different VCs with 2 different Swiches ans Cables. Seems to be a fundamental problem.
Has anyone an Suluton for this Case?

arghhhh ...

Rebooting the OA fixed this problem but switched temorary off both Fiebercannel VCs.
Result: Networkconnection worked fine without and packedlos and Servers crashed totaly because they lost FC connection.

We had to remove and reinsert all Blades to get the FCs working again :(

Your VCM Firmware version is pretty old,
(latest version is 2.01). What version of firmware is running in your OA's?

This is obviously something that all VC administrators are interested in, so could you provide also,

1. an extract from the system log covering the period of the problem and the events leading up to it.
2. a description of how you rebooted the OA's.

(I have never been able to figure out why a reboot of the OA fixes problems which are strictly confined to the ENet modules, as in your case. The connection between the ENet module and the switch should have nothing to do with the OA, but ....)

What I am trying to do here, is get enough information into the thread that HP may choose to get involved and explain how this event "could" have happened. i.e. is there a sequence of moves that we should REALLY avoid!

Pretty old is nice an an System we bought four Month ago ;)

OA Fimware is 2.25.

In very carefull word: Im more them a little bit fairfully with updating ab the Moment.
I guess without Downtime there is no chance.

If OA cannot communicate with VC modules ... nothing works. That could be a reason to reboot OA.

Are you saying that if the OA can't talk to the VC modules, then the blades can't talk to the Network??
