Proliant BL460c G6 in a C7000 G2 network MAC address issue
Hi all,
Last week i had a problem with one of the blade servers on the enclosure, as i had a spare one, i┬┤ve just swapped the hard drives on the servers and had the system up and running very quick.
The system works ok but i have an issue with the MAC Address of the NIC:
In the ONBOARD Admin website the old blade server has MAC ADDRESS A assigned to NIC 2.
The new server has MAC ADDRESS B and MAC ADDRESS C assign to NIC 1 and NIC 2.
When i ping the IP address of the new server it answers ok but if i take a look at the ARP cache it points to MAC ADDRESS A instead B or C. I┬┤ve tried to clear the arp cache without success on the operating system (windows server 2008).
Well, the problem comes when i switch on the faulty old blade to perform some tests. Both servers works fine but pinging the new one from time to time have lost packets.
Any idea on how to get the MACs assigned correctly?
Thanks

Are they same even if you look in 'ipconfig /all' ?
Do you have virtual connect?

Hi,
Yup, the MAC shown doing an ipconfig /all is the same (Mac Address A). The blades are configured with Virtual Connect.
The server profile has the following configuration:
-----------------
Port:1
Network Name: Unassigned
Port Speed: Preferred
Allocated Bwidth: 1 GB
PSE: Use Bios
MAC: HW-DEFAULTS
Mapping: LOM1=>Bay 1
------------------------
Thanks

Could you do something with the VC profile then or on the server?
I am not so sure what the different MAC settings on the profile does.
Maybe re-create the profile is a good idea?

Re: Proliant BL460c G6 in a C7000 G2 network MAC address issue
Are you using the HP Network Control Utility to team the NICs? As the Teaming software takes the MAC address of one of the NICs an uses it for the "Team NIC". And i don't know if it will update itself if it comes to a new server.
