Question about Blade Servers...
One of my IT classes I'm taking now mentions "Blade Servers". The professor went through and explained on the high level what it is, but not so much a practical applications. I asked about some examples of a blade server application and he told me they are "good for any high density applications like databases" I think that answer was too high level for me
From what I understand you could have a 10 blade 4U server and dedicate each blade to a specific task or perhaps cluster or load balance them for database or web servers. I found some places that note a "run a business in a blade!" where each blade is designated for AD, Exchange, etc.
What about as VM heads? Wouldn't you have to install ESX or any hypervisor on each blade? Can you load balance or cluster those within that environment?
Do you guys use blades and if you, what do you use them for?
