Question about installing a c3000 KVM module

We just purchased the KVM module for our c3000 enclosure.

 

I was wondering if I need to install the module with the unit completely powered down, or if I can install it while everything remains powered on.  I only ask because this enclosure houses our domain controller and Exchange server, and whenever it goes down for any amount of time my employees are on edge.
