The only indication that I can see is that the System Health status has a yellow warning sign next to it and it says the status is degraded.

I just reset the iLO controller for the bl460 and the status got changed back to ok. Is it common for iLO to get confused like that?

Yep thats the problem. The iLO logs don't show anything to indicate that there was a change in the status of the server, nor do any of the diagnostic messages.

I just started getting a degraded status from one of our blade servers from the OA on the c3000 chassis. However I can't find anything that will tell me what is "degraded". Is there a way to find out or do I need to take the server offline and use the diagnostic CD. I would rather not have to take it offline since this is a VMware host running about 15 VMs.

The actual location of the degraded message is on the Summary page of the System Status tab next to the System Health check.

On the system management homepage of the blade? Normally you should click on "System" and you will see more details (CPU, memory, etc), click on the next sub-item ...

But you can also have a look into the IM log of the enclosure.
