VC Fiber Channel: Loosing targets after issuing lip reset
Hi all, Im currently testing the VC Fiber Channel module and I noticed an issue when I try to detect new LUNs. The VC FC module firmware is the latest 1.32 Im running RHEL 5.3 and I follow the standard procedure to detect new LUNs and targets by issuing a lip reset on each Emulex adapters. The procedure works very well on standard N-port connection but it goes bad with VC and NPIV with the exact same software stack. The linux kernel logs after a lip reset: # echo 1 > /sys/class/fc_host/host2/issue_lip rport-3:0-2: blocked FC remote port time out: saving binding Sep 18 09:54:36 hostname kernel: lpfc 0000:06:00.1: 1:(0):0203 Devloss timeout on WWPN 50:06:0e:80:05:8a:99:31 NPort x020700 Data: x40000 x7 x0 I actually loose the target storage ports ! Anyone experienced this ? A very similar bug have been logged at RedHat under Qlogic adapters and was then closed as it was determined the VC firmware was identified as the root cause... since I run the latest fw this maybe a new issue. https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=479213 regards, Jeff
