Virtual Connect Question regarding "Portfast" setting
John had a customer question:
****************
The issue we need clarification on is regarding the use of “switchport portfast trunk” command on the Cisco Catalyst 6509. We want to find out if there is a network engineer who can verify that it should be configured on the Calalyst 6509-E’s.

The use of Portfast is highly recommended. The very same practices one would use if the switch port were connecting to a rack mount server’s NIC ports. Portfast really only helps if a module were to be rebooted, the uplink switch ports would go through a learning phase, which could take longer than it would for a Virtual Connect module to complete its boot up sequence. This would block traffic until the upstream switch determines that there is no additional switch device participating in the Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) domain.

Any experiences with this? What do you do?
