Network authentication: WPA2 problem

Hi there,
I am using the notebook Nx7010 with the network adapter: Intel(r) pro/wireless LAN 2100 3B Mini PCI adapter. My office is using network authentication (NA): WPA2 but when I checked the NA tab, it just has WPA and no WPA2. I updated the driver to 1.2.3.14 but it also doesn't work. I am being crazy with this adapter. Do you know what my problem is and how can I solve it? Thank you very much.

Re: Network authentication: WPA2 problem

WPA2 requires a hotfix to XP, here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/893357

bear in mind this fix is only for the XP built in beheviour, if your using HP's utilty, you may need to update that utility or switch to XP's

Re: Network authentication: WPA2 problem

I tried to your way. Get the hot fix but it doesn't work :( .Do you think my adapter doesn't support WPA2 because my adapter seems to just support 802.11b

Re: Network authentication: WPA2 problem

consider purchasing a newer adaptor, they run ~ Us$20. you may also need a bios update.

Re: Network authentication: WPA2 problem

Actually, i dont want to purchase a new adapter because I just bought my laptop NX7010 last year about 1800USD. Now I dont want to spend more money to replace a usable adapter just because of WPA2. Do you think it is a problem of my adapter or my driver?

Re: Network authentication: WPA2 problem

As shown on this webpage from the Intel site, the 2100 does not support WPA2, only WPA.

Watch for wrap arounds on the link....

Re: Network authentication: WPA2 problem

if the laptop is new, then it should support WPA2, ESP. if it's less then a year.

make certain you have the latest drivers from the manufacturer, as most of this is emulated in software, rather then processed by the card itself. (circuits are expensive, but CPU time is cheap)

once you have the latest drivers, you'll be able to use at least WPA, which is several orders better then WEP, as it utilizes rotating keys.

Re: Network authentication: WPA2 problem

oh, It is a miracle. I tried one more time and have just found the lastest driver that supports WPA2. Intel released it on 02/28/2005. Thank you very much. Have a good day!
