Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I forgot to mention that I have a tx1320us.
As of now, still no response from the wireless card. This is just terrible.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have the exact same problem. Have a TX1000z...Wireless card disappeared....They sent me a new wireles card, problem wasn't fixed...Now having to send my entire computer in....Very annoying...Luckily this dud is still under warranty. What pissed me off more was them stating your model is not supposed to be affected by the problem..Guess no one from HP reads this board.....This also will be my last HP...Just purchased a Thinkpad to avoid all these reliability issues...

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have a TX1000au just saved myself!!!

Wireless Hardware was not detected afer i unpluged from power , shifted to another rome for few minutes & then plugged back the power. Boomm... the wireless hardware vanished..i just reached the HP service center in time, there was only 8 days left for the 1 year warranty to end.

they informed me that the system board has to be replaced & it is due to arrive in a day or two...Now the worry is wether to extend the warranty by paying Rs.6,000/- for another two years or take a risk with this known problem...

HP need to act on this faulty product before ppl go away to other reliable brands...

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have a tx1000 and my wireless died 2 weeks ago after I used the HP-health check to update it. Since then I tried every trick I could find in every post I have seen. I had about another 12 hours of use after I opened the wireless slot and cleaned it out, removed the battery and rebooted. After it hibernated, I lost it again. I contacted customer support and they walked me through the driver reinstall which, of course never worked. They followed up to ask me how it worked, and when I told them it did not, they never replied. I am really disappointed, because up until now, I have been raving to everyone about this computer. That is rare for me because I usually want to replace every computer I have after about 3 months.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Just to add some weight to the thread: I have the same problem with a tx1115nr.
For a while, I could get back my wifi adapter by disabling/enabling the ethernet connection a few times, but now it seems totally out.
No luck so far with the support: that's EUR 400 for any repair...

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have had the same problem, My tx1000 was bought at the end of May 2007 as of October 2, 2008 the wireless no longer works. I have tried every option available or advice given out from this forum and other forums and have concluded that the only thing possible for me to do is replace the main board. But of course my laptop is no longer under warranty so I am going to try and push for the recall ASAP because this problem is very frustrating considering the laptop cost me $1300 USA. I do not have the money to pay for repairs because of the low salary I receive and bills including that I am paying for college. as many of you can see i NEED my laptop working or i WILL not be able to complete certain courses of my study without the internet connection working.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Wireless lan failure - now system will not boot. For the record: I own a tx1020ea since March 30, 2007. Three weeks back, wireless disappeared. I tried several options: software, driver and bios updates, hardware reset etc. Nothing worked, so I bought me a D-Lan Express/34 card as as replacement. Now HP Customer Support advised me to do a complete new install of Vista. That I tried, but then the system would not come up. Lights and fan are on, hard drive spins, then nothing. Just one out of ten times, the HP logo will appear and Vista starts up.

My notebook is about 1,5 years old, so the warranty period has ended. I hesistate to pay about half of the new price just to have it repaired. I understand that more people have comparable problems. Does HP recognize these as a production failure?

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I too had the same problem. It started out that the Wifi card stopped working then I started having problems with the video card; now it will not boot up. I have contacted HP on several occasions, they just tell me my warranty is expired and to pay to have it repaired. I have to admit I am very upset that HP will not admit that this is a defective product and recall it. I really need a laptop but I am not sure if I should pay to have this repaired or just buy a new laptop. I have found several posts from people with the same issue. i wonder if someone from HP even reads these posts.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I have also been experiencing the same problem. The tablet has been working without problems for the past 1.5 years but now I suddenly found out that the wireless adapter has disappeared and is not detected in device manager. My device manager only shows the ff network cards: Bluetooth and NVidia nForce network. When the HP Wireless Assistant shows up, it only shows that the Bluetooth is on. I have tried several workarounds suggested on forums here in HP dealing with similar problem but to no avail. By the way, I'm using tx1009au.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Any news from HP?

I'm experiencing the same problem with a tx1230la in Santiago, Chile... "HP online support" fails to find the problem. After reading your stories I doubt it will work ok after taking it to tech. service.

I believe I'm a week or so passed the 1 year guaranty.

And the problem is that when the motherboard is replaced, it too will be bad within a few months.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I purchased my tx1000 a little under a year ago. About two monthes in the internet card started intermitently dropping out. Restarting the computer made the wireless card reconizable again. I didn't contact hp earlier because I assumed, like any computer literate person, that it was just an early windows/wifi driver issue that would be fixed in an update.

The problem slowly got worse. Now my wifi card goes invisible almost every thirty minutes of use. I have updated every driver. Wiped the hard drive and reinstalled windows. The problem continues. This is an obvious case of faulty hardware and I have yet to understand why with this many reports hp hasn't aknowledged the problem.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I would like to register my claim also for this WiFi problem! I have a TX1210au and it started with a problem on remote control not working well for the WindowsMedia button, and now my WiFi card disappeared.
I contact HP, but as usual, no support.
After searching on web, I discovered that this problem is because of high temperature that the BGA chip works, and the bad design of HP to remove the heat on this PC. All AMD processors on TX1000 series will have this kind of issue and HP has just released a BIOS update to keep the fun running 60% of the time to give them more time until fails happen, avoiding warranty to them.

The only solution to this is to change the motherboard or a rework (known as reballing), this rework removes the BGA chip and weld it again in the MB, reestablishing the contacts.

Let's everybody know about this problem!!!

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I too have a tx1000 just a little over a year old. The problem started out with my wireless device disappering and on sunday my laptop wont turn on at all. When I try to turn the power on th elight would turn on for 2 seconds and turns back off. I have read another thread

[broken link removed on <4/12/2017> by Mod]

when I tried googling my problem and I was extremely surprised to see that this seem to be a common problem wiht this model. I called customer support and I made mention the fact that this seem to be a common problem with this model. the lady (customer/tech support) recognizes the symptoms and she did acknowledge the fact that this is a familiar problem but according to her "unfortunately HP does not recognize it as a big enough problem". I guess just too bad to so many of us that invested $1000 on a laptop that's useful only for 1 year. Once the warranty rans out it's a useless piece of junk. I am really dissapointed with HP. I guess on a positive side. I was going to buy my husband the same one but so much for buying or recommending more hp laptops/pc.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I am in for the HP WIRELESS CARD DISAPPEARING SYNDROME (WCDS) too!

It was totally fine last night and all of sudden the wireless card was no where to be found. Reinstall, restore, remove battery just wouldn't bring it back.

I am so surprised to see so many people have the same problem these days !!

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I own a Pavilion tx1000 and my wireless went from blue to red exactly 3 days after my warranty expired. How convenient for HP. Without internet access I was stuck using tech support via phone. But, of course, before I could speak with someone I had to pay $49. Tech support acted like I was the first person with this problem and said the only way to fix this was to completely wipe my computer and restore it back to its original form. Stupid me believed them and spent the past 48 hours backing up and restoring my computer├в when I called tech support w/ a question about the process the guy told me that I only paid to ask questions about my wireless problem and I could not ask questions that were not directly related to the wireless issue. I called back hoping for a nicer tech support person but got a sales to purchase other HP items, and when I called back again to speak with a different person I got another sales . Fourth call├в ┬жI was told I need a new wireless card and I could buy one through HP or go to Best Buy. I went to Best Buy today and the guy at Geek Squad said that the part I was told to buy is only manufactured and sold by HP├в I don├в t understand why HP tech support sent me to Best Buy! My latest call-- demanding a refund for the $49 for wasting my time and money. I bought a Linksys USB wireless adapter so I can at least access the internet now├в ┬жhow do I figure out what is wrong with my wireless???

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

My latest attempt to get HP to fix the problem:
teven Glass : video card dead
[An agent will be with you shortly.]
[You are now chatting with Darryl .]
Darryl : Hello Steven.
Darryl : Welcome to HP Total Care for Notebooks.
Darryl : Could you please elaborate more on the exact issue?
Steven Glass : please don't patronize me by saying you not aware of the problem
Steven Glass : I have a tx1115nr with a nvidia gpu, it has died. First the wire card went, computer did not see it, then the video card went in and out. Now it will not boot. I know that hp is repiring the DV series, what about mine?
Darryl : May I know whether the lights will come on when you turn on the Notebook ?
Steven Glass : when I turn on the laptop, the hd light comes on for about 2 seconds, the fan comes on then nothing no hd light just power light
Darryl : Thank you for the information.
Darryl : May I know since how long you are experiencing this problem in the Notebook ?
Steven Glass : it's been going on sine july, but only recently it would not boot at all
Darryl : May I know whether you have performed any troubleshooting steps to isolate the issue?
Steven Glass : yes, on several occaisons
Darryl : Okay, Please provide me the Serial and Product Number of your Notebook. You can find them both printed on a white sticker pasted at the Bottom of the Notebook indicated by S/N and P/N .
Steven Glass : ok, gimme a second
Darryl : Sure, please take your time.
Steven Glass : cnf7195ff3
Steven Glass : I know it's out of warranty, but this is a defect that's well documented on the web and in hp forums
Darryl : Steven, there is no any factory defect with your Notebook model.
Steven Glass : you know it is, check your forums. it's even mretioned on nvidia's website
Steven Glass : if you can't agree to it get me a supervisor
Darryl : From our database I see the product number of your Notebook is : RV309UA and the Notebook is out of warranty.
Darryl : Let me tell you..
Steven Glass : if you cannot approve the repair get me a supervisor
Darryl : Steven, I have checked for the information there is no any service enhancement option for your Notebook model. As the Notebook is out of warranty and also as the issue is with hardware malfunction where your Notebook needs to be diagnosed and repaired to resolve the issue, I will only be able to arrange a paid mail-in repair service for the Notebook to resolve the issue. The repair will cost you : $398.00 which includes:
Darryl : Free pickup and delivery of the Notebook >> parts replacement >> service charges >> and 90days warranty on the repair for the same issue.
Steven Glass : no, I asked for a supervisor. It's not right that a company a large as hp will not own up to a defective product and repiar it. There is already on lawsuit maybe I need to file a new one. I refuse to pay my money to repair a product that defective to begin with
Darryl : Steven, let me explain you clearly once again. The warranty service enahancement program available for the defective Notebooks are listed in the below link along with the Notebook model series and product numbers. Please check the below link once:
Darryl : http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&docname=c01300427#c01300427_dv61
Darryl : Please do not click on the link directly in the chat window. Please copy the entire URL and paste it in a new window of Internet Explorer. Then open the link from there.
Steven Glass : I have seen it, but this series has the same problem and you know it
Darryl : There is no any issues with your Notebook model.
Steven Glass : wrong search the internet and your forums [broken link removed on <4/12/2017> by Mod]
Steven Glass : I think it's completely unethical for HP to ignore the complaints of large numbers of customer's. I was really a loyal customer until now. I have 2 hp desktops, a printer and a laptop. After this I am going to sell them all and buy from another more reliable company
Darryl : Please stay for 2-3 minutes
Darryl : I really apologize for the inconvenience caused to you in this regard, however please stay for few minutes Let me see what best I can do for you in this regard.
Steven Glass : ok, thx
Darryl : As per your request, I am checking with my supervisor for the options available in this regard.
Darryl : Please stay for 2-3 minutes.
Steven Glass : ok
Darryl : Thank you.
Ray : Hello Steven.
Steven Glass : hello
Ray : This is Ray. Supervisor of Darryl.
Steven Glass : I was expalining to darryl my problem with my laptop and of the research that I have done on ths problem and it's disheartening to know that hp won't repair hp's problem
Ray : I realize how annoying the situation is, and I certainly we will help you to resolve the issue.
Steven Glass : I just think that hp should fix the tx series as well as the dv series
Ray : Steven, as I have gone through the chat session I found that darryl explained about the Limited Warranty Service Enhancement Program which is under taken by HP.
Ray : As we did not get any sort of update on this tx series Notebook model we can not assure you that it can be repaired for free of cost or under this process.
Ray : However, I will escalate the issue to the concern department which will take care of the issue and who will directly contact you regarding the issue.
Steven Glass : I know, but I know that your department is well aware of the problems with the nvidia gpu's and there are other series manufactured with the same chip and that the problems are exactly the same. It's just ashame that you people won't fix the problem
Ray : If you are interested for the escalation process. Our representative will take the necessary information from your end and will initiate a case regarding the issue which you are facing with your Notebook and you will soon recieve a call from our escalation team.
Steven Glass : ok, let's do it
Darryl : Steven, please provide me the following information.
Darryl : Please provide the following shipping information:

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

I had the same problem a few months ago just when the one year warranty is expired. Recently, the machine doesn't even boot at all. I called HP and the phone screener asked me to pay $50 before I can call talk to an technician . I used online chat instead and the technician said I need to send my laptop for diagnostic and repair and the cost would be out of my own pocket. It's totally hardware defective issue and HP is aware of it and avoiding getting it fixed.

Re: TX1000 Wireless Problem

Same problem with me since this morning 28/10/2008. Mine TX 1220us bought in USA thirteen months ago. Used as a spare laptop in my Lisbon flat probably used 30 hours since new.
Symptoms
1. Turn on computer all lights on ok. Hard drive noise & light on for a couple of seconds.
2. The blank screen!
3. Fan running all else ok
(Checked power supply removed battery etc but no joy!)
Like all the rest of us I was shocked to see the common HP Tx1000 problem on this forum thread & the lack of interest from HP technical support.
Anybody else out there with same problem please join this thread to exert pressure for a solution

@Roper
It seems you have a different problem than the one mentioned in this thread. People here are all suffering from a disappearing wireless card.
