Use Windows to Configure my Wireless Settings

On my COMPAQ notebook, I connect to my wireless net right away, no problem. On my ZD7000, I have to manually check the subject checkbox (Use Windows) which my XP Media Center 2004 appears to uncheck every time I Standby, Hibernate, or Reboot.

Anyone know how to permanently check that checkbox and eliminate a very lengthy manual process every startup (to include restarting the WZC process)?

I am not familiar with that notebook but I have encountered this problem with other wireless adapters.

Do you have a wireless client installed? If so you may need to tell it to use windows zero configuration to run the wireless connections or put your settings into the HP wireless client?

Re: Use Windows to Configure my Wireless Settings

MS refers me to HP and HP refers me to MS. With wireless internal to the notebook, I'm sure there should be an HP client that is supposed to handle it, but there appears to be some kind of conflict between this notebook (ZD7000/8000), MS WZC, and the Media Center 2004 O/S that came with the system.

The Help+Support (while it is good on the surface) for the ZD7000 seems slim, for instance, and wireless support along with it. If there is an HP wireless client, I'm not sure what it is or how to config it, and I don't see any visible HP support on how to make it work (having looked at HP wireless documentation).

I can survive manually cranking it all up everytime I Standby, Hibernate, or Boot, but that sucks (for an XP intermediate) - there should be some way to batch the process (start the WZC, configure the "Use Windows" checkbox) to set it up first thing on the boot.

Once I've manually performed those actions over about ten minutes, the wireless net comes right up.

Thanks for the response, and if you know what HP's wireless client is, let me know.
