Wireless Light on ZE4560

I recently upgraded to XP Professional, and I've got everything back to working condition except the wireless button on the front of the laptop. The light remains on all the time, regardless of whether the wireless connection is enabled or disabled, and the button does not turn the connection on or off. What can I do here?

Hi,

You could also post this over in the Pavilion Notebook Category:

The folks over there will have some suggestions,

Hope this helps,

I have exactly the same problem with my ze4805us for exactly the same reason. Did you find a solution. I have just began searching and if you could help, it would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Re: Wireless Light on ZE4560

I had the same problem when I upgraded to XP Pro. I did a clean re-installation of XP Pro and then installed hp notebook utilities(TV NOw, Wireless Configuration,...) that fixed the problem. the Wireless Config controls the light/button. The button and light now works perfectly.

I fixed one problem and ended up with another though. I upgraded to Broadcomm driver version 3.70.17.0 and i have problems connecting to wireless networks especially after a wake up from hibernation. I get the message "Limited or no connectivity". I doubt it had to do with Windows XP because as soon as I connect to the wireless router through ethernet, I connects wirelessly too. I might downgrade my driver and see.

Re: Wireless Light on ZE4560

I also have the same problem. I will try to install the utility package.

And I also have the connecting problem when after cold start. The Broadcom wireless card sometimes just didn't connect to the router (Netgear WGR614) even when it finds the wireless connection.

My driver is 3.70.17 and I upgraded to 3.17.22 and it seems to be better than before but the connection problem still exists.

Re: Wireless Light on ZE4560

Joshua,

I had the same problem when I reinstalled Wndows XP. The problem occurs when you install the OS separate from the full HP intall of the OS. What you have to do resinstall the buttons utility (which should be in your HP file under SWSetup), or downoad the utility from the HP support site. Once done, this should give control of the WiFi light and other buttons to your computer and new OS.

Re: Wireless Light on ZE4560

Hi Joshua and to all of other friends who are experiencing the same issue. I have helped many and as a part of my experience, you can resolve this issue by reinstalling Notebook utlities from HP software downloads and updates. Go to hp.com, put your product/model number, Choose download drivers and software. Choose your OS, then scroll down to look for Notebook utilities. Download and install this to see if it works. This actually resolved in most of the times which is 99 out of 100. Hope so, it helps for all of you too.

Joshua, here is the web link to install Notebook utilities for your notebook model.

Hope this helps you all,

Have a nice day,
