FAQ - What are the requirements for ILO to successfully connect to Compute Ops Management

[UPDATED 2/9/2023]

This is a high-level overview of the process to configure Compute Ops Management (COM).

For a complete step by step guide please,

  1. Reference the online web interactive version at https://www.hpe.com/info/com-gsg.
  2. On the left side of the web page, look for and click on the section titled "Configuring Compute Ops Management".
  3. Expand that "Configuring Compute Ops Management".
  4. Select the section titled "Preparing servers for Management"

High Level Steps

  1. Download SPP version 2021.05.0 or later to update the firmware and software on the servers you want to manage.
  2. Reference HPE GreenLake for Compute Ops Management security guide https://www.hpe.com/psnow/doc/a50004539enw for how to configure any needed firewall rules

All the following apply to the compute devices (servers) you want to manage via COM:

  1. Install iLO 5 v2.78 or later via your normal company operations to update iLO firmware.
  2. Verify that you can access the iLO web interface.
  3. Verify the iLO’s network connection has Internet access including IPv4, IPv6 or both settings.
  4. Verify the DNS server configured on the iLO can resolve Internet names
  5. Remove any other management configurations such as HPE OneView. A server can only be managed by a single management software such as COM or HPE OneView. Reference the section titled "Activating servers for Compute Ops Management by using the iLO web interface" in the guide for the detailed steps.
  6. Verify there is a valid UUID displayed on the iLO Overview page under Information.
  7. Verify that iLO’s date and time are set correctly

    You can download
iLO 5 v2.78 or later from the following website: https://www.hpe.com/support/ilo5
