5940 and 10G fiber connection
Hi,
We have a HPE FlexFabric 5940 48XGT 6QSFP28 Switch (JH391A) and we are looking for a way to connect a 10G fiber connection to it (from our DWDM platform).
I found two options
1: using a HPE FlexNetwork X240 40G QSFP+ to 4x10G SFP+ 1m Direct Attach Copper Splitter Cable (JG329A).
I have been told that this cable won't work in the model 5940 that we are using, is that correct?
If the cable is correct I have to figure out if the SPF+ is supported by the DWDM vendor, witch SPF+ model is used on the other side of the cable, is it something like the HPE X130 10G SFP+ LC SR Transceiver (JD092B)?
2: using a QSFP+ to SFP+ adapter, mentioned in (https://community.hpe.com/t5/Comware-Based/5900-irf-on-Qsfp-ports-on-single-mode-fiber/td-p/6875777) so I can insert a SFP+ with support 10G fiber.
But i can't find anything from HPE that this is a supported option on the 5940? (searched for it in https://www02.cp-static.com/objects/pdf/e/e24/1349909805_1_netwerk-switches-hewlett-packard-enterprise-flexfabric-5940-4-slot-jh398a.pdf)
Thanks..

Re: 5940 and 10G fiber connection
JH391A supports JG329A, JG330A and JG331A 40G QSFP+ to 4x10G SFP+ DAC splitter cables, at least latest QuickSpecs states so...it looks like your option n°1 is viable.
