Total Newbee trying to set up internet with....

I am trying to understand how I connect my cable modem to my SuperStack II Dual Speed Hub 500. Which port in the input on the Hub for the modem?


 

Can someone please advise me?

Hi,  i guess you should give us more info about your hardware and what you want to do with it.

Considering your modem LAN port is an Ethernet (rj-45) port just plug it to any of your hub port using an ethernet CAT5 cable, then you must configure your PC with the same IP network settings as your modem.

ex.

MODEM LAN interface is:  IP 192.168.2.254, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.2.254  (yes, it is it´s own gateway)

your PCs should use same network IP like:  IP 192.168.2.50, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway  192.168.2.254

The default gateway of your PC should be your MODEM because your PCs will try to reach other networks like internet.
