DNS Problem with web portal
I configured a web portal. I can connect the WLAN and can do the authentication in my web browser.
Then I get a web page with the following information:
Processing authentication request Now connecting you to the network Your login was processed successfully but a DNS timeout occured. You will need to close and restart your browser application in order to reach your original destination.
Then I can change the url for expample to www.google.com and all is working correct. Could you help me please, to solve the problem.
Yours sincerely

Re: DNS Problem with web portal
I ran into a similar issue a while back and what was happening was that the WX switch which proxies the Web Portal DNS request never got an answer from the DNS server. I confirmed that the DNS query was being sent out by the WX via a wired trace of the WX switch uplink port then saw no response. It was then just a maater of following the packet and understanding why
no response.
In this case the WX Switch uses the IP Address of its own interface in the selected VLAN as the source IP and the default GW of the WX switch was sending that packet an unwanted path which was seen by the Firewall as a spoof packet.
Call 3Com support they will help if you need assistance but I would take a trace and see if you get a response or not and if not try to figure out why .
my 2 cents

Re: DNS Problem with web portal
The firewall was blocking DNS traffic.
Now I get the following response:
In a few seconds you should be redirected to www.3om.com
Is ist possible to change the design of this page? Where can I find this page?
Yours sincerely
