The "showpd - failed -degraded" command shows the next information:
ST3PARGLC cli% showpd -failed -degraded
--Size(MB)-- ----Ports----
Id CagePos Type RPM State Total Free A B Cap(GB)
--- 0:0:0 FC 15 failed 0 0 1:0:1* 0:0:1 300

--- 2:0:0 FC 15 failed 0 0 1:0:1- 0:0:1- 300
--- 2:7:0 FC 15 failed 0 0 1:0:1- 0:0:1- 300

35 0:0:0? FC 15 failed 278528 0 ----- ----- 300

if we analyze a little, we can see two output lines for each disk:
- an output line corresponds to the bad disks, keeping still the old ID.
- the other output corresponds to the new disk, but instead of ID it shows dashes.
Could you help me, please.
Thank advance

Re: 3PAR - Disks fail after replacement
Hello Hibismel Tovar,
Hope all the 4 new disks are compatible.
You can also check servicemag status -d to see the reason for the failure.
Try dismissing the old IDs from the system and check if any error is returned.

Re: 3PAR - Disks fail after replacement
Hi Anjum_IK,
I tell you that, execute the servicemag command with the -d option on each disks
and the following messages stand out in the result:
ST3PARGLC cli% servicemag status -d 0 0
... upgrading firmware on pd WWN [5000C5007608B0AC]...
Failed --
Could not download firmware
There is no current firmware listed for PD 5000C5007608B0ACFailed --
servicemag resume 0 0 -- Failed
ST3PARGLC cli% servicemag status -d 0 10
... disk WWN [5000C5006BC980B8] diskpos [0] is marked invblksz
Failed --
1 disk is in unrecoverable state
servicemag resume 0 10 -- Failed
ST3PARGLC cli% servicemag status -d 2 0
... disk WWN [5000C5006BC98620] diskpos [0] is marked invblksz
Failed --
1 disk is in unrecoverable state
servicemag resume 2 0 -- Failed
ST3PARGLC cli% servicemag status -d 2 7
... disk WWN [5000C5006BC9810C] diskpos [0] is marked invblksz
Failed --
1 disk is in unrecoverable state
servicemag resume 2 7 -- Failed
On disk 0 0 clearly the message is about a firmware problem,
but on the other disks the message is "marked invblksz" .
What do you think about it?.
Thank advance
Hibismel

SolutionHi Hibismel Tovar,
"servicemag Resume Will Fail with diskpos Marked invblksz"
This will happen if the user has installed a 512 bytes disk in a 520 bytes system, and vice versa.
The same can be checked by the following command
# showpd -fmt .
Solution :
The disk needs to be replaced with one correctly formatted.
Servicemag resume fails with "Could not download firmware. There is no current firmware listed for PD..."
There is no current firmware listed for PD 5000C5007608B0AC.
Solution:
Issuing a servicemag unmark followed by a servicemag resume allows for successful completion of the resume operation.
Else we can use command upgradepd
Syntax
upgradepd [-f] [-skiptest] {-a | -w <WWN> ... | <PD_ID> ...} to upgrade the latest firware on the new PD.
# upgradepd -w 5000C5007608B0AC
Hope this helps!
