diskpart.exe fails to run on Win2K3 cluster with MSA1500
Hi,
Im having an issue trying to get disk part to run on the following:
2 x DL580 G5 (fail over SQL cluster) running Win2K3 R2 x64 Enterprise Edition connected to MSA1500 (single Qlogic FC HBA in each server using Windows Qlogic driver 9.1.7.16 - no multi-pathing)
We swapped out all 14 x 146GB disks with 300GB, rebuilt and then expanded RAID array with the HP ACU.
All of this went fine and Windows sees the unused space on that volume but when trying to run diskpart.exe to grow the drive in Windows, it dies immediately with:
C:\> diskpart.exe
Microsoft DiskPart version 5.2.3790.3959
Copyright (C) 1999-2001 Microsoft Corporation.
On computer: DBA03
The disk management services could not complete the operation.
I followed the Microsoft procedure on Technet for using diskpart on a cluster:
- shutting down one node
- taking the cluster group off-line
- bringing only a single disk resource online
- running diskpart.exe
But no go..
It's almost as if it cant get a hold of the disk or something.. Quite frustrating and there are no errors in the Event Log or elsewhere.
Has anyone else experienced this. Perhaps there is another method or utility?
Thanks!
Regards,
Andy.

Re: diskpart.exe fails to run on Win2K3 cluster with MSA1500
Hi,
Thanks for your reply.
Unfortunately it doesn't help because I cannot get past step 1 in the procedure.
As I mentioned, when trying to execute the diskpart.exe utility I get:
"The disk management services could not complete the operation."
It doesn't even go into the diskpart command shell.
Regards,
Andy.
