We are having two HP Unix 11.31 Servers running with HP Service Guard, SGeRAC, Oracle 10G RAC with ASM. 40 lun's are presented from EVA8100 to these servers and are configured under ASM.
Each lun is having 8 paths, total 320 paths in legacy view and 40 in agile view.
Ho much lun path did HP Unix 11.31 supported with both legacy and agile view?
We are planning to migrate these luns to a HP XP 24K Storage. In XP24K each lun will have how many paths in leagcy view?
Is it possible to migrate these lun's from EVA to XP Storage without any downtime?
In agile view DSF path in HP Unix 11.31 will be same as in EVA8000 and in XP24K after migration?

Re: DSF name in EVA8100 & XP24K, the number of lun's supported by HP Unix 11,31
"In agile view DSF path in HP Unix 11.31 will be same as in EVA8000 and in XP24K after migration?"
It depends on how many ChIP ports will each of your XP24K LDEVS (LUNS) be presented to your Servers.
The reason your server sees 8 paths for each EVA LUN is because your EVA8100 has 2 HSV controllers of 4 front ends each. Each 4 front ends is zoned to one HBA and your server has 2 HBAs -- so each VDISK/LUN from your EVA sees 8 paths.
On the XP12024K, thre can be 4 Array Controllers that can be presented to anywhere from 8 to 256 FronteEnd.. The fronteneds are then zoned to your server's HBAs -- so it depends how your new XP1204K LUNS will be presented.

It will HELP you tremendously in seeing and understanding your XP24K LUNs...
Cheers!

For migrating data from EVA to XP using HPUX, there is one method can be used if you wish to do it online.
If you have Mirror UX License, You can extend the LV of the existing VG to new LUN by making mirror(new LUN will be added to existing VG). one the LVs sysnced then you can reduce the original LV from VG.

Re: DSF name in EVA8100 & XP24K, the number of lun's supported by HP Unix 11,31
I will collect the xpinfo uitilityfrom HP.
Lun's are used as raw device in ASM, lvm is not configured with the lun's presented from storage.
Will we get better performace from XP24K better than EVA in both read and write.
All lun's are in vraid0 in EVA, In XP24K shall we go for raid0 or raid5?

SolutionI will still GO with RAID10 (not RAID0) over RAID5 or RAID6 (or any Parity based variation available on thine XP24K). This is true if your DB is write/update intensive (i.e. OLTP, critical DSS, etc). If your DB is mostly a repository kind of an app with very light updates and inserts -- go with RAID5 or RAID6 or any of the PARITY based RAID configs.
So you will not "miss" your EVA8100's performance - remind your XP24K admin to ensure the CHiP ports your servers will be on is not saturated or oversubscribed and it is really advisable to closely monitor the LDEVs, array groups and CHIP ports on the XP24K via Performance Advisor.. I say "miss" as under the right conditions, an EVA8XXX can actually run circles around an XP array... An XP Array however offers better consistency than an EVA as no server or servers can HOG the XP's performance - on the EVA, a single Server CAN (if planned and deployed poorly).

Thanks for you information.
Were Using RAID1 (4+4) in XP24000.
