Hot swapping disks

I have a DL380S attached to an MSA 1000 Disk Array. One of the disks has gone amber and we have tried to swap it out with disks from a couple of places now after 2 minutes the new disk just goes amber again. If we put the original disk back in it attempts a rebuild for a while but then goes amber.

My question: Is the FW file version of the disk important ? The disks we have in at the moment are HPB2 whilst the replacements are HPB4 could this be preventing the hot swapping?

P.S. This thread has been moved from Servers > General to Disk Array. - Hp forum moderator

Re: Hot swapping disks

I guess this needs to be addressed to the Storage discussion boards as the DL380S is storage server and the MSA 1000 is a storage box.
