HSZ40 Raid Controller "Invalid Serial Number"

I have a storageworks 410 Raid array with a HSZ40 Controller. The battery on the Controller failed and it lost the Serial number. Is there a method to replace the number. If not since these Controllers are becoming extincted is there a way to protect aqinst this?
