ML350 with SmartArray 642 - waiting for rebuild
Changing a disk with a new one we get the information "waitin for rebuild" on the new disk and nothing is changing.
Any suggestion about this problem? I attach the ADU report.
Many thanks in advance.
Regards

Re: ML350 with SmartArray 642 - waiting for rebuild
Firmware 1.92 (needs updating, we are in 2.80 now)
01-29-2009 14:38:27 Rebuild aborted due to read error, logical drive 00000000. Replacement drive 8 Error drive 7
01-29-2009 14:47:23 Rebuild aborted due to read error, logical drive 00000000. Replacement drive 8 Error drive 7
Physical Drive 2:0 A lot of Medium Error (Read Retries Exhausted)
COMPAQ BD03686223
Read Errors Hard 395
Read Errors Retry Recovered 50
Recovers Failed Read 33
I'm sorry but you have 2 drives with errors in this RAID, so it does not rebuild
You replaced drive 8, but drive 7 has a lot of errors and data rebuild fails every time
Since this logical unit is a RAID 5 formed by
Physical Drive 2:0
Physical Drive 2:1
Physical Drive 2:2
And one has been replaced and the other is damaged, the data probably cannot be recovered

Re: ML350 with SmartArray 642 - waiting for rebuild
Nothing changed.
So the only solution is to destroy and re-create the array?
Regards and Thanks in advance.
I attached the new report in zip format.

Re: ML350 with SmartArray 642 - waiting for rebuild
Are you sure it was failed? Maybe you replaced the wrong one.
Disk 7 is the one that is giving a lot of errors and breaking the rebuild process.
Of course if drive 8 was really kaput and drive 7 is having read errors, you're toast.
