We want to buy some 36 GB (Ref. A6193A ) disk to extend our VA7100
Actually we use HPUX 11.11 with :
Product Revision:_____________________HP18
Battery Charger Firmware Revision:____4.3
and have five 18 GB disks in our VA with HP05 firmware
Should we pay attention to the firmware version in each A6193A disk before to buy it?
How to find disk firmware version ? How to update it
Regards

Re: VA7100 and disks firmware
The latest Firmware for the drive:
A6193A, A.K.A BF07255B2C is HP07.
I'm still checking for its compatibility with VA's current firmware.
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=3403428тМй=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodSeriesId=3302267&prodTypeId=329290
You could do an armdsp -a
to get the list of all disk drive firmwares.
Here's the command to update the disk firmware:
armdownload -D # fwRev $id
Cheers!

Solution2) The drive product number means a disk with 36 GB and 15k rpm - that's it. Nothing about an exact model.
Could be for example a ST336752FC or ST336753FC or BF03658242 - all have different firmware.
Install the disk and check the fw with armdsp commands.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: VA7100 and disks firmware
I will buy and install the disks and then see. But I wonder if HP18 will support the disk without any problems or must upgrad firmware to HP22 ? Where I can find such information because we prefere to make our VA extension and stay with HP18 if it posssible
