Re: Want to creare RAID 0+1 on EVA4400
But in the Command View EVA we found only VRAID0, VRAID1, VRAID5 and VRAID6.
That made us confused. Any idea?

Re: Want to creare RAID 0+1 on EVA4400
However, the specs are likely the only source that mentioned these raid levels, but I'm only aware of vraid0, vraid1, vraid5 and depending on FW level vraid6.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

SolutionA vraid1 is always a striped mirrored disk (using all disks in a disk group), so you can compare to a RAID0+1.
Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: Want to creare RAID 0+1 on EVA4400
As stated.. vRAID1 on the EVA is effectively RAID0+1.

http://www2.openvms.org/kparris/eva_intro.ppt
(old but still valid)
or just search for something like
"eva distributed virtual raid"
Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Want to creare RAID 0+1 on EVA4400
On the EVA product range, data is spread across all disks in a disk group. So there is no difference between vraid1 and vraid0+1. vraid1 on EVA implies varid0+1
Vraid0 - one copy of the data is spread across all the disks in a disk group.
Vraid1 - two copies of the data is spread across all the disks in a disk group

Re: Want to creare RAID 0+1 on EVA4400
Single: The firmware reserve a space = twice the largest disk drive in the group. This space is distributed among all disk in the group to make faster the leveling.
Doble:The same, but it reserve double space than single.
How ever, if you have enough free space in a group, the EVA will use it before sapare.
