286713-B22 / 36.4GB HDD

Hi,
I have a question. Bought 2pcs of 286713-B22- they fire up as normal. On the drive it self it says "product of Japan" but I run a serial look up it says "manufactured in United States"

How can this happend ? Do they manufacture in USA at all ?

OH you know...manufactured somewhare in China...half assembled in taiwan...second part in Sungapure, assembled in Japan, and an US firmware upload......

Well, guess you are right :-)

As long as I can trace the serial on the web the drive is "genuine". ?

Just heard rumours about counterfeit drives.

If the serial on the sticker and the one in FW match, plus the look and feel of the disk is the same as all the others it's probably a valid one....
Nothing is impossible for those that don't have to do it themselves!
