2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

R390

I have installed our second HVD10 JBOD and it does not appear on my system. I have created the attached Word Doc/diagram.

All dip switches are as follows 1 - O (off) the other 4 are on.

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Here you find the docs

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/lpg28482/lpg28482.pdf?jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

There are daisy-chained examples explained.

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

I have been reading the document, thanks.

The examples don't easily show, one Machine and two JBODs.

Question, do I need to use the Vcables?

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

Your configuration is almost perfect.

But you need scsi terminators on the last connectors.

Now set the dip switches.

If the first JBOD is off-on-on-on

the second JBOD have to be

off-off-on-off-on

on both BCCs, because if you set it the same way like JBOD 1, all disks will have duplicated SCSI IDs.

Now you have IDs

0 1 2 3 13 + 8 9 10 11 12

on each BUS.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

T,

I have set the DIP switches as you mentioned, but the disk devices for the new jbod do not appear.

I set the second BCC to Off Off On Off On

The first set of BCCs is Off On On On On

Ideas?

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

The settings have to be the same on both BCCs in one JBOD - did you do that?

Of course it has to be powered off while changing.

Sorry for wrong information, the last dip (bus termination) has to be OFF at least for the first JBOD, because it will "cut" the BUS to the second JBOD.

If you have terminators installed, set it OFF on the second JBOD too.

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

T,

Jbod 2 has SCSI terminators

DIP Swtch for both JBOD1 DCC cards are

1 and 5 in the O position
2,3,4 in the I position

DIP Switch for both JBOD2 DCC cards are

1,2,4,5 Off O position
3 On I position

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

I hope this is correct now, it's friday and too much "0" and "1" ;-)

JBOD1:

off-on-off-on-off

JBOD2:

off-off-off-off-off

switch 3 and 5 is bus termination. set it to "off" will disable the termination.

switch 1 is full/split bus (off = split bus)

switch 2 and 4 is high/low scsi addressing.
(one JBOD have to use high, the other low addressing.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

T,

just to make sure, the O position on the switches indicates that they are off, is that correct?

The I position indicates that the Switch is ON, is that correct?

Thanks again

Re: 2nd HVD10 does not appear after connecting/rebooting

In order to connect both JBOD's, a "Y" cable is required part number A4801-63010.

Thanks to all that helped.
